UFO report

Time for a UFO report! I resurrected my Irish Hiking Scarf and finished it last Saturday. I wasn't overly excited about knitting with an acrylic blend. My IHS was knit with WoolEase on size 7 Brittany needles. Using these new stitch counters resulted in a no-mistake scarf, whoo-hoo! I bought them at Knit Picks and plan on purchasing another set for my FLAK.

The next project on my UFO list is Shedir, a pattern from Knitty. It was "supposed" to be a Christmas present for DD #2 who looks adorable in hats. Actually, DD #1 looks pretty darn cute in the first hat she has ever knit! Way to go, Jen-Jen!

I love the look of Shedir but it does require some concentration to knit. I definitely had to reaccquaint myself with the pattern.

Irish Hiking Scarf Goes On and On

I'm still knitting away on the Irish Hiking Scarf and I am beginning to think it is the scarf that will never end! I'm so ready to move on to another project!

My nephew works faster if I sit with him at the table. I would NEVER do this with my girls but since he is a little pokey with his schoolwork, and I don't want school to last until 4:30 every day, I have decided to sit and knit as he works. The problem? He is more interested in the details of how a cable is knit than he is in the quotient of a division problem! So, I'm not too sure my 'knitting along with school' idea is going to work.

I actually envisioned finishing this scarf today but then dear nephew reminded me that most people wrap scarfs around their necks instead of just letting them hang loose. Grrrrrrr.....another foot or two to go!

Footballers Wives

How many of you are footballers wives? I'm curious to see what everyone did during the Super Bowl. Are any of you avid football fans? If so, who did you want to win the game? Or, are you a football widow? Did you get much knitting done during the game?

I have tried to cultivate a love for football because my husband enjoys having me there with him as he watches the games. I'm not an avid football fan but if I have some sticks and yarn in my hands I can enjoy the whole football thing.

DH and I enjoyed a quiet afternoon and evening together. My nephew has been spending Sunday afternoons with the church youth group which is wonderful for him as well as us! We are missing our empty nest and our alone time together :-(

I alternated knitting between my Irish Hiking Scarf and my second Spey sock (last KOTR KAL). My paws were itching to work on something else but I am trying very hard to stick with only two projects at a time. I think my multi-task-knitting-approach was unproductive in 2006 so the two-project plan is my new tactic for 2007. And, I will ONLY knit one pair of socks at a time. And, I will only knit from my stash!
